Brian “Funshine” Alexander is an American voice actor, music producer, and jazz musician.
After completing studies in Psychology & Music at the University of South Florida, U.S.A., working in public and private schools, and outdoor education programs, Brian decided that the world was his oyster. He extensively traveled throughout the USA, Europe, Russia, and finally Asia, where, in 1999, Taiwan became his home.
Brian spends his days doing voice over and music production for clients and his own projects, and his evenings are free for live jazz performances!

Brian works as a professional voice actor for commercials, company introductions, audiobook narrations, video games, cartoons, songs, educational materials, movie trailers, documentaries, cartoons, theme parks, musical toys, airline in-flight announcements, and DVD video products.
For music production, Brian created several albums and music for Sparkle and Shine kids, Columbia Education, VIP Kid, American Magazine Company, Newton Kids, Spiritual Ocean, film music for the award winning documentary producer Tim Gorski, 48 Hour Film Festivals, and many others
Brian’s main instrument is upright bass, but he also sings jazz, and plays electric bass, guitar, ukelele, vocals, handpan, and percussion. He also leads his own jazz group, The Jazz Element in Taipei, Taiwan.
Recent performances include a weekly gig at Vinyl Decision Record store/bar, The Blue Note, Dixielane, Sappho Live, Blackhat Jazz, Alchemy Bar, Taizhong Jazz Festival, and the Taiwan Lantern Festival and many more.

JAZZ BIOGRAPHY
Brian Alexander 張搏恩 is an American jazz bassist/vocalist/music producer, residing permanently in Taipei, Taiwan.
Brian began his musical training on trumpet, before switching to upright bass and studying jazz bass at the University of South Florida, with Mark Neuenshwander, Clifford Dee Moses, and Chuck Owen.
Utilizing his Chinese speaking ability, outgoing personality, love of jazz, and over 30 years of musical studies, Brian is committed to offering high quality jazz performances in Taiwan and beyond.
Brian currently performs as a freelance bassist and vocalist, leading his own Jazz combo, The Jazz Element 爵士元素.
His previous jazz ensembles include – Hellzapoppin Jump Swing band and Jump Somethin’ (Performed at the Taizhong Jazz Festival), Jazz Love, The Admirals.

What is the process for a job working with you remotely?
We can have a consultation online, on video, in person, on the phone, or in a messenger app. You can send me your script, video, references, etc. I can offer some initial samples of my voice reading your script, so we can determine the style, pace, voice tambre, etc. Then, I can do the voice over, send it to you by email or a link. I’ll give you a chance to review and ask for changes. Larger projects can be done in phases.
How about hiring you for a job in Taipei?
No problem, I have worked with over 60 studios in Taipei and I can help you to decide which one fits your needs, location, and most of all, your budget, or we can work remotely at any studio quite easily.
What editing will you perform on a file?
I can send you the raw file, or add compression, EQ, to make things sound balanced, as well as removing any mouth noises, pitch shifting, reverb, delay, breaths etc. I can even make my voice sound like many different kinds of monsters or aliens, robots, whatever you need!
What format do you export?

What instruments do you play in your performances?
These days I mostly play jazz upright bass and sing, in my jazz combo, The Jazz element, but I am also a freelance musician available for other live performances and studio sessions
I also play electric bass, as well as guitar, djembe, handpan, ukelele, guitarlele, and the chinese instrument called Zhongran.
What styles of music do you play in your performances?
I perform mostly instrumental and vocal standards from the “American songbook”, bebop tunes, swing tunes, latin styles, funk, and some other commonly played jazz and popular music as well as a few Taiwanese and Chinese/Mandarin songs.
Where do you perform?
I have regular performances at Vinyl Decision, as well as other local venues in Taipei, such as Sappho, Blue Note, and other live music venues in the Taipei area, along with special events for corporations, weddings, parties, etc
